Isle of the Dead Paranormal Investigation Report
Tudor House Margate
19th January 2008
Comprising of the edited notes and findings of three teams of investigators
The teams were as follows
Team 1....
Wendy, Denise, Jenny, Katy, Brian and Nick (Leisure Force)
Team 2...
Joan, Alex, Corrinne, Larraine, Paul and Abigail (Leisure Force)
Team 3....
(This group worked independently, and will produce their own on video report)
The building was divided into three areas, the two rooms either side of the entrance being Area A, the room with the ornate ceiling and the one at the top of the stairs Area B, and the furthest two bedrooms Area C.
After doing a group protection and grounding led by Denise, the group split up into their respective teams.
Names and events marked with an * will be included in the conclusion.
Team 1 began their investigation in Area B in the room with the ornate ceiling. It was immediately noticed that Brian’s compass was behaving in an erratic manner, vibrating, swaying and generally having trouble finding north.
We heard what sounded like taps to the window at the front of the property, but on investigation, this was found to be a loose pane of glass.
Brian asked out and picked up on the name, Mary*. He requested knocks in response to questions, and established that Mary had lived in the house. Katy saw something move as Brian felt that something had moved through him.
At this point we all heard the door to the reception area move.
Wendy sensed a male energy named Francis*, and Jenny sensed the name Albert. This was followed by a tap on the door to the stairs.
Denise was also picking up on Mary, who she described as dressed in a Quaker style with a large white collar and a bonnet. She had a small boy named Jacob to her right, and it was felt that this was her son.*
At this point, Nick was feeling tight- chested and finding difficulty breathing. Both Katy and Jenny described feeling as though their heads were stuffed with cotton wool, and Jenny was feeling drawn toward the door leading to the reception. Wendy, Jenny and Katy all saw a dark shape by this door, and a photograph taken by Jenny shows a light anomaly.

Close up of light anomaly on door.
Katy felt her jeans tugged on her right leg under the chair.
A spirit presence was felt to move between Brian and Wendy, and there was a feeling that this spirit was curious. A sound was heard that could have been a cat, or possibly a distant siren.
At this point Jenny’s camera stopped functioning although it read that the batteries were full, and Brian’s seized up at the same time. A few minutes later both cameras were fine.
Denise was still picking up on Mary, and felt that Mary and Jacob (aged three to five years) had possibly passed from smallpox, as she had the impression of red sores. Jenny sensed someone behind Denise, and Denise felt that this was Hannah. She sensed that this was teenager aged about fifteen *, with blondish hair and a bonnet; again, Quaker. Brian felt that Jacob was wearing blue knickerbockers.
Denise felt her face being stroked, while Jenny continued to see a lot of movement around Denise. At this point, Brian was absolutely frozen. Jenny felt a tickle on her neck, and then her back went very itchy.
Temp 12.9 C
It is felt that Mary and Jacob are from the time period 1675 – 1680.
Jenny got the word ‘lance’ but it is not clear whether this is a name.
Brian senses a male figure wearing what appears to be a plague mask *. He was a large man, around 5’ 10”, And Denise felt as though something was crawling up her leg, and said it was possibly a leech.
Jenny once again felt something at the back of her head, and Nick felt that the name Claire might be significant.
22.15hrs. Temp 11.9 C

Pink orb captured
Wendy and Jenny saw a bright light above Denise in the top corner by the door leading to the reception. Denise felt that this may be Hannah. Jenny took a photo at this point, and a pink light anomaly was captured on camera.Katy saw movement by Nick, describing what she saw as tiny, blurry round patches.
Denise feels that Mary and Jacob are lost and that Hannah has come to look for them *. She feels it is her duty.
A brief visit upstairs felt flat, with nobody picking anything up, so it was decided to resume the investigation downstairs.
The temperature has risen again to 12.9 C.
Jenny described a vile smell, describing it as like cat wee mixed with something else – it is sweet and sickly. The smell rose between Jenny and Wendy, who recoiled in disgust saying it is how she would imagine a dead body to smell. Brian (who had actually smelled a dead body) said it smelled like decaying flesh.
Wendy handed someone (I apologise, I can’t remember who) the camera, and another pink ‘orb’ was captured between Jenny and Wendy.

Second Pink Orb captured
Brian felt a pain across his eyes, and Jenny felt her hair move.
Wendy sensed a small man with a bald head wearing green tights and a green top. She suggested he were vey bent and hunched and reminded her of a hobgoblin.
Katy gives the name Duncan, Jenny gets a name ‘beginning with P’ and Wendy suggests Toby. Katy feels he may be Scandinavian or Norwegian*, and Jenny feels he has a lisp.
Team 1 resumed their investigation in Area C, the two bedrooms furthest from the stairs. They started in the middle bedroom at 11.30pm. Temp 13.9 C.
Everyone was feeling a little spooked here for some reason. It was felt by Brian and Wendy that their spirit guides had disappeared off somewhere.
Denise sensed someone standing by the window looking out. Footsteps and shuffling sounds are heard.*
Jenny felt emotional and said that she feels that she wanted to cry. She said it was like someone else was very upset and she was sensing it.*
Brian felt something blow on the back of his neck, and Wendy and Katy saw movement by the doorway into the far room.*
Denise pointed out an anomalous face on the wood.
Both Jenny and Katy felt very vulnerable. Wendy was having difficulty breathing, and it was felt that there was a male presence by the door.*
Wendy picked up on a girl aged about eleven wearing a rust coloured dress with a pattern on it, which is gathered at the waist. She is possibly wearing a pinafore, and has on a close fitting bonnet, square at the sides, and folded at the tips into two little wings. She also wears black pumps and heavy petticoats under her dress.
Wendy feels this girl is giggling and singing and is happy. She skips back and forth between the rooms, and also gallops up and down on a hobby horse. Wendy feels the girls name is Alicia Morley. (Pronounced A liss-ee-a)
Jenny hears tapping from the far room.*
Denise feels that Alicia is not connected to the spirits picked up downstairs, and Jenny feels the date to be 1784. Someone is felt to be playing with Jenny’s head, while Brian complains of a severe headache. Wendy feels that Alicia is aware of the passage of time, and of the artefacts in the room.
Wendy and Katy noted that the doorway to the far room is getting darker. Wendy saw a shadow shape beginning to form, and Brian suggests 5’ 10” tall.
It was decided to move to the far room.
Wendy feels that the energy vibration from this spirit person is low, suggesting a suicide * or execution, and gives the name Thomas *
A shuffling sound is heard*, and Denise felt as though something has gone through her head. Wendy felt a tickling on top of her head and it is apparent that her spirit guide has rejoined the team.
Wendy sensed that something was wrong with Thomas’s nose, and sees an image of an ugly, scary puppet wearing black shoes with white knee high leggings, britches, a flared coat to the knees and what appeared to be a tricorn hat. The puppet has a long nose, and painted on eyelashes and brows giving a surprised look. The puppet waved at her.
She sensed that Thomas was controlling and arrogant, but felt this was bravado. Thomas took a bow and requested applause for the puppet show. The team gave a round of half hearted applause.
Denise got a shooting pain in her ear.
Wendy felt that Thomas was well spoken. The team asked him to move into the room from the doorway which he does, and Wendy sensed he had a very strange way of moving both his body and head.... very jerky and staccato.
Thomas was felt to move toward Brian and Wendy suggested that Brian does not let him in. Brian felt a pain in his right ankle, and feels Thomas might have just kicked him. He feels that Thomas may have been laughed at.
Wendy sensed Thomas move away from Brian then return to crouch down by him. Denise suggested he wore a mask as his face was disfigured, hence the image of a puppet. Brian felt that Thomas was very angry and hurt, and at this point Wendy’s guide goes to Brian’s side. Thomas is felt to point at each of the team and accuse them of not caring, and calls Wendy a ‘cheeky young madam’. Katy and Denise hear a loud sigh to their left.
Thomas left the room briefly, and Brian demonstrated how he felt Thomas walked, stooped and shuffling;* the atmosphere in the room lightened considerably, and then Thomas returned.
Wendy felt that when Thomas was alive, the streets ran with filth, and Brian suggested 16thC. Wendy felt that Thomas had been hauled before magistrates for something he hadn’t done. He had been wrongly accused purely because of the way he looked. Brain and Wendy felt he had been tormented by both adults and children throwing things at him and mocking him. Wendy felt he had a problem with his stomach, and Katy got a pain in her left eye.
Although Thomas had come very close to Brian, Wendy felt that he was an honourable man who would not take advantage of women. Both Brian and Wendy were feeling emotions and tears.
Wendy sensed a feeling of relief, as though Thomas had suddenly decided to trust the team not to laugh at him.
It was decided to end the session at his point.

Team 2 Report(from notes by Joan Furman Corrinne)
Team 2 began their investigation in Area C, in the middle bedroom.
Most of the team saw a build up of energy in the form of a black shadow that sometimes looked almost solid in the doorway to the far room.* This shadow moved about and at one point almost came into the centre of the circle but seemed to hold back. Alex picked up on the name George.
The team then moved into the far room and sat for a while. Joan was facing the doorway, and saw movement there.* She looked up as someone peeped around the doorway. Joan felt this was a male, and this figure looked solid. The figure jumped back as if startled that Joan had seen it. Joan said ‘Oh s**t! I just saw a ghost’
The team were taking turns to ask out.
Alex got the name of Mary *, and Jane aged fifteen*,who was looking for a baby.
A girl named Heather *was picked up on, who had had an argument with her brother.
Joan got the impression of weaving looms, and that Jane was wearing a dress with a square neckline.
The team got the feeling that there had been a suicide.
Joan went back and took a photo, and a full page picture can be found at the end of this report. This group can not explain what has been caught on camera.
Break for refreshments
Downstairs....room with cellar.
The team felt there was movement in the cellar, and heard scuffles, and at one point the sound of something being dragged.
A woman was picked up on and the Jonathon.
Joan sensed a young woman named Becky (or Rebecca) wearing a small cloth headdress and a puff sleeved dark dress.
Joan got a pain in her head and Alex picked up that someone had suffered a blow to the left hand side at the back of their head, and felt that there had been an accident when someone had fallen into the cellar. A noise/tapping was heard from the cellar.
A female was picked up on around 27 years old, and Joan felt a strange feeling around the back of her neck as if a finger was touching her.
12.15am....Reception room
Voices and murmuring were heard, and thudding which seemed to come from the cellar.
The sensor light came on.
A definite noise was heard from the cellar, and a humming sound. It became colder, and there was another tap from the cellar room.
Larraine and Corrinne felt that the women who had described herself as 27 was actually telling lies about her age and was much older.
End of Session.
Team 3 Report (compiled by Woody Wood)
The investigation at the Tudor House in Margate gave me an opportunity to invite my friends from the Soulseekers and it was decided that we would film a minisode during the night. The following 4 min clip is the story of the Soulseekers investigation into the 15th Century Margate Tudor House. On the night there was some interesting occurences that occured. It was thought that this location was worthy of a further investigation at a later date.
After the break, the whole group held hands to raise energy, and it was felt that Thomas was now following us from room to room, intrigued and curious. Brian felt his bottom pinched by a female spirit who gave her name to Wendy as Nancy. She said that we had not asked permission to visit her house.
As a large number of people had to leave at his point, the three groups merged into one. The group was now
<!--Wendy, Woody, Joan, Denise, Jenny, Katy and Brian.
The investigation continued in the room with the cellar. Denise stood against the wall near the door, but was soon overcome with a feeling of alienation and of not being with the group.
Other members noted that Denise was now ignoring questions and appeared to be disorientated and in her own world. Wendy raised her voice and told Denise to move away from the wall and toward her.
The investigation was ended here for Denise’s well being.
During this session, the motion sensor went off at 1.45am with no apparent movement from any team members.
At 2.20am, just prior to debriefing and closure, Katy and Joan could smell a burning log fire in the reception room.
A final piece of activity occurred during closing down in the room with the ornate ceiling. In the next room, Woody’s rucksack was heard to drag and land on the floor. This rucksack had been on the table all night, and on investigation was found to be a good 4ft from the table.
END INVESTIGATION
Conclusion
It is significant that Joan had picked up on a man named Thomas Deacon (or Deakin) BEFORE the investigation, and her description of what he was wearing tallied with what Team 1 picked up about Thomas’s puppet.
Before entering the house, Denise said she was getting the name Merrick. In light of the subsequent description of Thomas, we believe this could have been a reference to the elephant man, and feel maybe Thomas had a similar condition.
Both teams picked up on a suicide around the shadowy figure believed to be Thomas, and both groups heard footsteps and shuffling. Thomas would tend to shuffle if he were afflicted. The shadow caught on camera by Joan shows a stooped figure, and again, we believe this to be Thomas. Both groups also heard tapping from the next room, and sensed a presence in the doorway.
When Brian picked up on a man in a plague mask, this also could have had something to do with Thomas’s disfigurement. The ‘hobgoblin’ figure could also have been Thomas, but this is conjecture.
Wendy saw a shadow form in the same doorway that Joan saw the ghost.
Mary was a name picked up on by both groups. In one case, Hannah aged fifteen was looking for Mary and her little brother Jacob, in the other fifteen year old Jane was looking for a baby. It is also noted that Team 2 picked up on Heather and her brother. If we take a bit of a leap of faith, it seems that the same spirits were picked up on, and the some of the names were wrong.
Early in the investigation, Wendy gave the name Francis. She is undecided whether she actually picked up this name, or was remembering it from an earlier investigation. In 2003, she was part of an investigation along with Katy and Jenny with a group named Spooky Thanet. Wendy picked up on Francis, and felt very strongly that he was going to materialise. They were sitting in the doorway between the reception and the ornate ceilinged room. Clear footsteps were heard crossing the reception room toward them. Unfortunately, they were disturbed by drunks at this point banging on the door.
Joan has done some research, and has found that in 1802, the property was deeded to a Francis Cobb, most likely the brewing giant. His son was sent to learn commerce at Noordwyck in Holland (Katy suggested Scandinavia or Norway). It may also be significant that one of his sons was named Thomas.
