The weather conditions for the evening were overcast with a slight breeze.

We began the Investigation at 8pm making our way over to the old Sargeants Mess Accommodation Block.

'H' Corridor

In the self-contained flat off corridor 'H', Joan set up a Trigger Object of a coin that was placed on a 'light box'. A model of a 'Hurricane Bomber' was placed closed to the coin to encourage interest. A camcorder was trained onto the trigger object and the room effectively locked off.

Following a tour of the building a circle of protection was lead for the group by Denise during which Woody, Angie and Katy had all felt as if they were being nudged forward.

In a room on the ground floor which Flight Lt. Cliff East explained was part of the living accommodation, all could smell the strong aroma of antisceptic.

Back in 'H' corridor, Brian, Wendy and Katy entered a small, cupboard like room next to the self-contained flat.

Brian sensed the presence of a male in partial uniform and Wendy and Katy could also see and feel a presence.

Denise, Joan, Angie and Woody then entered this room as a group.

Denise immediately felt as though her throat was swelling and closing up, Woody had the same feeling.

Joan and Woody saw someone walk between themselves and Katy's head felt very itchy.

Angela sensed the name of Joe to her right and the air here was very cold. The temperature sensor picked up a reading of 12.8 degrees, whereas the rest of the room was reading between 13-14 degrees.

We all then moved to join the others in 'H' corridor, as we walked down the corridor away from the self-contained flat, looking back towards it, we could see shadows moving at floor level at the end of the corridor.

At this stage Wendy could sense someone who had been with her since the protection circle.

Ballroom

Wendy, Denise and Joan could all feel a distinct chill in the corner to the right of the bar area. Joan sensed a woman's presence wearing a brown uniform with a belt around her waist and a straight skirt. She likened it to that of a 1950's WAAF uniform.

Denise picked up that the lady that we had encountered in the ballroom during our first visit to the base, Florrie, was in fact a Hat Check girl and had a round counter with a cupboard behind it, in that corner.

Brian had band music going around in his head 'April in Paris' played on a clarinet.

Wendy began to sense the presence of a lady Doris Cassel, a 'bottleblonde’with her hair styled with 'sausage curls' and buck teeth. She was wearing a white floral dress with red flowers, and round toe shoes with silver diamante buckles.Wendy thought she had lived in Pegwell Bay as she was seeing an image of the Pegwell Bay Hotel. She was a very happy lady.

Joan believed the dress she was wearing had a square neck.

Brian could see this lady too and that she was not wearing stockings, but had drawn seam lines on the back of her legs to make it appear that she had been wearing stockings.

For some reason the pass that Katy was wearing suddenly turned upside down on her chest even though she had not moved.

Wendy then went on to see Doris wearing a brown uniform with felt material. She was showing that she had something wrong with her knee due to a bomb injury. Doris wanted to speak to our member Joan.

Denise felt it had something to do with a wedding and that Joan and Doris had something in common.

Wendy picked up wedding ring.

Joan began to feel very sad because she felt that Doris had lost her husband on 4th August 1949. The 4th August was the day that Joan had married her late husband. Joan was also given the names of David and Simon and Basingstoke and Keppelworth and could see a dog similar to a golden labrador or retriever.

For some reason Wendy felt that Doris wanted to kick Brian, our member, in the ankle.

Joan went on to say that her Mum had come to the base during the 1950's to dances and it would be interesting to find out if she had known Doris.

Everyone could sense that they were being watched by a group of people in the corner at the other end of the Ballroom, and Denise and Woody heard a sound come from the bar area.

Denise, Katy and Joan all heard a very heavy sigh and at that moment Vikki came in from the Ante-Room, where the rest of the group were, saying that Angie had been picking up on a Black gentleman, to which Doris said to Wendy 'What Black man?'

Ante-Room

Angela, Brian, Vikki, Cliff, Andrew and Brian were present when Angela began to sense the presence of a  black gentleman in uniform that she had previously come across on the first investigation. He was next to her, sitting by the fireplace. He was holding his head in disbelief. He could not believe what he had done and was very upset because he did not mean to do these things. People had been giving him a bad time and he just snapped. At that point the air around Angela turned very cold (this could also be felt by the others in the group. Brian took a photo and could see a large orb next to Angela where the gentleman had been.

Brian had also been picking up on this presence and was given the name of Napoleon Green, along with 1955 and that this gentleman had been following Brian for some time. He felt that the music he had heard earlier in the Ballroom had some significance to this gentleman, who then went on to make the following impressions on Brian.

He had been in trouble, the day before he had snapped. He was facing 2 charges. One for stealing money and the other for an assault on a woman. He told Brian that he was guilty of stealing the money but not of the assault. Brian feels that due to the fact that he was educationally challenged, he had been ‘set up’, wrongly accused.

On this day before, he had an argument with someone and had told that person that he would die the following day.

That fateful day he went to the canteen (now the Gym), and then onto the Armoury, where unchallenged he took two weapons, one handgun and an automatic.

From the Armoury he went through the Bar of the old Sargeants Mess building, through to the Ballroom and exited out of a door in the Ballroom and made his way to the right.

Vikki was able to confirm that this was in fact the route that he had taken after leaving the Ballroom. A photograph upstairs in the Phoenix Club shows the layout as it would have been.

It must be said at this point that this incident had received coverage in the public domain and so this must be taken into account.

Whilst the rest of the team were discussing this in the Ante-Room Wendy and Joan had decided to make their way out of the building in readiness for the break.

On walking through ‘J’ corridor, they were discussing how brave they were to be walking there on their own, at which both heard a very loud, distinctive heavy sigh, from one of the doorways to their left.

J Corridor

Following Wendy and Joan’s experience it was decided to return to ‘J’ corridor of the old Sargeants Mess building.

At this stage of the Investigation Flight Lt. Cliff East left for the night.

The group split into two groups.

Group one comprising of Wendy, Denise, Joan, Angela and Woody who went into rooms J6 and J8.

Group two comprising of Katy, Brian, Vikki, Andrew and Brian who went into rooms J9 and J11.

As Woody was standing by the door of J11 he heard a throaty sigh.

Wendy became surrounded by icy cold.

We all heard a bang in the corridor twice and Woody and Joan heard a rasping sigh.

Group two moved from room J11 to J9 after having heard noises come from within that room.

Joan and Denise heard four taps on the door and Joan was given the name of Margaret Davis. Both Wendy and Angela then saw a light move across the room.

Wendy believed this to be a young man called Joe, with ears that stuck out,   who had been a bit of a ‘bright spark’. He used to play jokes on the others that didn’t find it funny.

Angela received the surname of Dunn for this gentleman.

At this stage in Group two, Vikki had seen a white light coming from the window of the part of the building opposite to their room. Brian took a photo of this and they thought they could see a face in the picture so they left ‘J’ Corridor to investigate that area further.

Back in Rooms J6 and J8, we heard a cough and Woody thought he heard a woman’s voice saying ‘a ha’.

Joan saw a shadow move along the corridor and we all heard several bangs.

Wendy tapped on the door of room J8 and asked for any spirit present to respond in the same way, following which several faint taps were heard on the door.

It was decided by Group one to retrieve the trigger objects and camera from the self-contained flat in ‘H’ corridor.

No movement was detected of the trigger object.

Group two, having moved onto ‘F’ corridor saw something move at the bottom of the corridor and enter a room off it.

On walking through the Ante-Room they all could smell a strong smell of sulphur.

Main Hall

Brian took a photograph of what appeared to be a transparent Vikki, but on further investigation it is believed to have been a result of double exposure, although we have not heard of this happening before with a digital camera.

Joan could see a gentleman standing by the door wearing a beige uniform and a peaked hat with a red band. He had a white crossover sach across his chest and a white belt. He was of medium build, about 6ft and appeared to be about 35 years of age.

Denise received the name of Geoffrey and Joan the surname Collins, along with Wateringbury and New Hampshire.

Joan thought there could be a Military Police connection with him, as she said this she felt someone touch the left side of her face and her hair moved.

Denise was given the expression ‘warts and all’ and Joan ‘Take me as I am’.

With this she again felt her neck and hair being toched and pressure on her right shoulder.

Denise heard someone say ‘You’.

Main Hall

We all decided it would be appropriate to link hands in a circle, to see if we could raise the energy.

Wendy saw a lady, Beth or Bethany and Angela got the name of Beryl.

Wendy said the lady had very bad pains in her stomach and that her dark, shoulder length hair was held up at the side with a clip.

We could sense a small dog who Denise likened to ‘Toto’ from Wizard of Oz.

Wendy believed the lady present to be that of Vikki’s grandmother.

Joan could smell burning toast and bananas and Vikki could confirm that her grandmother did indeed used to eat bananas on burnt toast. She also confirmed that her grandmother did have very bad pains in her stomach.
